interior cleaning

I have a 1989 Legend 37 but I suspect my question relates to many other it not all Hunter models. The interior hull surfaces are covered with some sort of vinyl like material with a foam backing. I have some stains from unknown sources. Any idea what to use to clean the material?

I would start with something like Simple Green and see how this works.

When we bought our 77 hunter 27 last year it was nasty on the inside from sitting for 3 years. We used Scrubbing Bubbles on the fiberglass and vinyl, Simple Green full strength on oily areas, and CLR on anything with water stains and mineral deposit buildup.

A number of years ago I purchased a Cherubini Raider 33 which had a foam backed cabin ceiling liner that was very stained. I tried everything, all to no avail. Someone told me to try a vinyl paint; the kind that was used on vinyl car tops. It was applied with a sponge applicator and came out really great. I had that boat for 10 years and never had to touch the vinyl liner again.

I use chlorine based form cleaner called Mr.Muscle. Spray from a bottle, the content forms on the stain. Leave it awhile and the stain will disappear. No need for washing.
