I just finished charging my battery and the charger tells me that there is a problem with the battery, not sure exactly what but it gives me an alarm code, so I guess I'll have to get a new battery, solar charger will have to wait
Make SURE you get a real deep cycle battery, not some "dual use" crap. Also, keep it charged as much as possible. Batteries like to be kept at full charge, leaving them partially charged kill 'em. Reference Maine Sail's forum here for suggestions on good batteries.

I use a small 20 watt solar charger that I bought off eBay for $30, when not in use I Velcro it the the rear cabin wall and when in use I sit it on top of the pop top, definitely not a blast a battery to full in an hour but it does work however I generally just use mine to help prolong the batteries while out on the water

ok, so I bought a new Bbq lighter and a new brush which I lost that weekend, I started looking at solar panels, but I'm at a loss here, what size, amp (watts), do I need a charge controller if I only get a small panel? the wiring seems simple enough, still have to figure out where to install it o_O
