Intalling a tabernacle

I have recently acquired an old Day Sailor. I intend to install a tabernacle. Do I need to step to mast first to get my measurement or can I just measure from the keel and pin?ThanksDale

Which configuration?

Dale,By 'old' how old do you mean? Is the mast stepped on the deck or on the keel. I'm assuming keel, since there is no current tab, but want to make sure.If so, I'd step the mast to get the measurements exact. Even then you may be a little be off. It won't matter much, as long as there is enough adjustment in the shrouds to deal with it.Justin - O'day Owner's Web

Installing a Tabernacle

Justin,The Daysailer that I have must be 20+ years old. White hull with blue deck. The mast is stepped directly on the keel.Thanks,Dale
