How Much????

We insure our H37C through a private brokerage for about $700 per year. That covers stated value plus $300,000 property damage. Be sure to tell them you want stated value and not book value. Book value is always less than what "YOU" think your boat is worth. We have ours valued at $46000. We are only covered for 15 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico. For a couple of hundred more we can get full Gulf and Caribbean coverage, but since we work and live on land we don't see the need right now. Good choice on the boat you're buying. If you want to see pictures of ours, go to http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=207403&Auth=false or e-mail me for a direct link Good Luck.... Ron

Our costs

We have our '81 Hunter 37 Cutter insured for $62K, it includes the $47K (or so, don't have the paperwork here) value of the boat and the rest is the added equipment, etc. Cost for US waters to 300 miles offshore, + Bahamas, Turks & Caicos at double deductable (2% of value), and $300K of liability is about $730 a year. You'll find that the cost is a fairly set amount for liablilty, plus some percentage of the hull value, (around 1.5% I think) and a slightly higher percentage for personal effects. On mine, personal effects coverage has $500 included, we've opted to not carry more. It does include the dink and outboard (part of the $62K). Hope this helps. Gene Gruender Rainbow Chaser
