Frank is of course correct about hull coverage. However if you ground your boat, there may be environmental consequences if it's a coral reef etc. If you hole your boat and even a gallon of disel gets out it is big trouble w/o insurance, We have liability insurance .. a ton of it as we have an umbrella policy covering the car, boat and our home, We have minimal hull coverage with a large deductible as this is not a good investment on an older boat as Frank wisely points out. Anyway two cents worth..........Fair Winds and kind regards........Jim

Insurance ???? What insurance ??? I've owned Cin Cin for about 24 years, and have done my share of sailing from Cape Fear to Key West , the Bahamas, and now the North Sea, parts of the Baltic and if I lose her, you simply have to look at the replacement value. (A lot less than the cost of the insurance for all those years). The local harbor master finally forced me to get liability insurance to cover his dock. But that is it. Am I irresponsible ??? ... maybe... but what the hell...
