having had two minor claims in three years, both storm related and with no injury, boat u.s. has dropped my insurance like a hot potato. i found geico will give the the same coverage for about half the price with no winter haul-out required and any uninsured boat that hits me is not considered a claim. sometimes bad news is good news.

Geico may not have clauses for fuel and oil spills. If that happens it can cost big money.

I am surprised that boat us dropped you. You may want to talk to them and see what could be done.

When I first had my boat I got Progressive insurance. It was cheap. When I looked at it a little closer the insurance made me very nervous. I dropped Progressive for Boat US for peace of mind!

maybe to good to be true but i have a binder with 54,000 oil spill per accident and 100,000 in case an uninsured boater hits me. i've had geico auto for years and have always found them tops. i am insured enough to get a 1991 catalina 30 with all the bells and whistles in top shape, if i can find one, if i lose my boat. enough for me.

i spoke to boat u.s like speaking to a brick wall. two claims in three years and you're out. both claims were storm related with nobody aboard and one of them was because a long gone boat probably hit me and geico doesn't even count that as a claim. i have a 1000 deductible, by the way. but i'm only trying to be helpful; if you have questions call geico, not me. i've never known geico to be in any way sneaky or below board,

$54,000 may be low for a fuel or oil spill......VERY LOW. The fines and fees can be astronomical.

I have Geico for my car....they are just fine and I like them. I am just saying to really look into what you had versus what you now have.

thanks for catching my typo, oil spill is 854,000 not 54,000 per accident. i also got another quote closer to geico than boat us.
