insurance in Mexico

I am trying to find insurance that will cover my vessle for the baja ha ha this fall. I have been with homeowners company for 5 years and they are great for us and canada and 75 miles into mexico but no chance for a ryder to go further. who are you using for insurance when sailing into Mexico?

I purchased my annual insurance last year and had additional coverage added for Mexico because I participated in last years Ha Ha. The total premium for the year with the stipulation my boat would be out of Mexico by July 1st was $1800 with a stated value of $250,000 for a 2000 H460.,Independent of your US insurance, Mexico requires a Mexican Insurance Co. to issue a liability policy for your boat. Your US policy will of course cover your liability in a foreign port but nonetheless, its a requirement in Mexico. This is true if you drive a car in Mexico as well. If you don't have Mexican liability insurance, an accident could result in you being taken into custody pending posting of a bond. The legal minimum is only $10,000 liability coverage. I purchased a 6 month policy for $150.00. My US insurance agent in Newport Beach is Micheal Hayden Insurance and the Mexican agent was Romero's Documentation Service in Newport Beach. Romero will also provide a fishing permit for your boat and lic. for the crew. Hope this helps.

I might sound weird to you but God is my insurance. He is more reliable that any of those outfits. Save your money if you have faith. If you have a mortgage then give to Ceasar...

While I appreciate the advice and comedy I also believe that God helps those who help themselves and insurance, much like taking a ride from the fire department, is a good way to help ones self.
