I'm restoring the interior of my Hunter 25, "76" and need to replace the carpet on the wall. I will be using indoor/outdoor marine backed carpeting but I want to insulate the walls i.e. bulkheads before placing carpet on them. Can anyone suggest an insulation that would be conducive to gluing to fiberglass and then having carpet glued to it? Any info. appreciated.

Try Headliner

Before going the carpet route, consider going to a wholesaler of automobile headliner - the stuff they put on the roof interior. It has a spongy core in many thicknesses with lots of attached coverings. I used a spray contact cement to glue it directly to the hull. Keeps the boat cool in the summer and warm in the spring/fall.
