We have just purchased a 1997 Ben 321 with B&G Quad Depth and speed .
The depth display is operational.
The problem is the speed is not.So far have checked connections at the display head,Removed through hull and inspected the transducer paddle wheel all look good.

spin the paddle wheel while someone looks at the display to see if it gives a reading.

We have the same boat (2000 model). Had the same problem. Bought a new transducer and just spliced it in. Has now worked fine for years.

I've also got a Beneteau 321 1995 year model that I bought a few months ago. I had the speedo problem on my last boat. If you spin the transducer paddlewheel with your hand and it does work, but still doesn't register when in the thruhull, you likely have a chunk of bottom growth just in front of it. Once I had the bottom cleaned by a diver, all was well. I also use transducer bottom paint in it.

Where are your instruments mounted? My Raymarine tridata is on the bulkhead at the top left of the companionway. I'm not sure how to access the backside to reroute the wires to the binnacle. Is this the standard factory installation location?

The instruments on our 1997 321 are on the binnacle. As far as access to your present set up this is just a guess can you remove the instrument display from the front to access the wires.

You were right. I am able to pull off the current speed/depth instrument. I found that it wasn't bolted to the bulkhead. Rather it's just held in place by studs without nuts and lots if silicone sealant.

I'm planning to move my instruments to the binnacle by adding an Edson Pedestal top housing. It fits on top of the pedestal rather than on the guard, and the compass goes on top of that. It's designed for Edson pedestals, but I'm hoping to make it work with the Whitlock.

Bought the transducer at a local store that sells Raymarine stuff. It is no longer there. I think you can get from most marine stores. I could not find the receipt, but recall it was a couple hundred bucks.

Good luck. For me, it was easier just to splice in the new transducer near the thru hull fitting. Must waterproof the connection...
