Instrument Wiring Through Pedestal

I am trying to run my instrument wiring up through the Edson pedestal (Hunter 28) and pedestal guard to a Navpod. Does anyone know how to do this? I cannot find any way to pass the large transducer connectors up through the bottom of the pedestal. If I could loosen the rudder control cables and tip the pedestal over I could drill holes for this, but I'm not sure how to do this either (without ruining something).

Sounds like now is the time to call Edson and ask them. They probably have detailed step by step instructions for doing what you want- or can tell you why you shouldn't be doing it.

I took the easy way out ...

cut the cable, ran the lines, and crimped them back together wire by wire. naturally it violates their warranty. Vic "Seven"

Easy Way Out ...

That's a good suggestion. I guess I could cut the compass light wire and use it to pull the others up through the pedestal base. Is that how you did it? Or did you run the wires another way, like through the rudder control cable wire channels?

wiring

You shouldn't have to cut the compass wire.I did this yesterday. I just tied a weight to a piece of fishing line and dropped it down inside the pedestal alongside of the compass wire. I had to play with it for a couple of minutes, but eventually it fell through the same hole in the pedestal base as the compass wire. By the way, I e-mailed Edson about this and they suggested not running anything inside the pedestal. Their suggestion was to go inside the pedestal guard. I ended up going inside the pedestal anyway. Just be careful to keep the wire away from the steering chain and cable.

another option

A prior poster suggested notching the pedestal (under the top plate) to create a space for the wire so he wouldn't have to drill a hole large enough for the connector. see if this link works.
