Instrument Panel Question

Hey, first time to post here. We are new owners of a 1985 Hunter 28.5. Really enjoying it so far and we are beginning to get our feet wet (so to speak) with the various systems on the boat. My question is regarding the instrument panel. On the panel (the boat has a Yanmar 2GMF inboard), there is the key switch to the far right, and the push button to start the engine to its immediate left. Above this button is a toggle switch. I've searched the engine's manual and it doesn't include a description of this toggle or what it does. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

On mine, it is a three way.. off, middle, one way -tests alarm and warning lights, other way - turns on lights in tacho and other owner installed instruments for night.

The only alarm that will not trip when you turn the key switch is temperature as the engine is not overheated. That toggle switch will ground the circuit so that you can check the warning lamp and the buzzer connection for the temperature alarm circuit.

It really is easy...heck I can do it. Just use some tape and a sharpie and label every wire as you take it off. Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy. If you mess it up call me and I will drive up and visit some friends I have up there and help you out. I'm just down the road in Houston.

lol. Thanks for the support. I may have to give this a try. The current panel is in pretty sad shape.
