The pedestal has the throttle on side and the gear on the aft side (between pedestal and wheel). Has any one installed a Simrad Wheelpilot WP10 with this configuration and did you have to relocate the gear shift or the throttle? How difficult was it and what advise do you have?

WP10 Installation

Before you begin make sure your wheel is big enough for the WP 10. Your wheel must extend well beyond the control head. I think a 26" wheel is the minimum. The 22" wheel of my H27 is too small for the WP10. There is not enough space between wheel and touchpad to grip the wheel. Sorry, I have no answer to the question you actually asked.

wp10 installation

i put a wp10 on my boat last summer. couldn't figure how to get wire into and down stanchion ahead of wheel. finally drilled a hole in the side of the wheel pedestal and ran wire down center. appears to work well and easy to install.

Sounds OK. . . .

if, as pointed out, you have enough wheel diameter. I installed a WP30 on an Edson with the same arrangement of throttle and gear lever. Like Jim I drilled a hole in side of pedestal and installed wire with a rubber grommet. Another thing that I did was purchase one of those 6" heavy rubber pipe connectors from Lowes. I cut a section out so that it exactly fit the diameter of the pedestal. It gives the clamps a better grip and comes with better stainless clamps.

No Problem...

Last spring I installed a wp10 on my H260 with Edson pedestal. I was concerned that there would not be clearance, but it fit just right. The WP10 even has a clearance hole for a nut on the backside of the pedestal! For the electrical, you can file a notch at the top of the pedestal, under the base plate, then run the cable from there inside of the pedestal. Installing the unit, not including wiring, took about an hour. Fair winds, Tom
