Installing vang on '84 H31

The boat had a vang with it when we bought it, but not installed. There's only one attachment point aft at the base of the mast and I need that for a main sheet block. I want to add an attachment point on the mast near the base for the vang. Can someone post a pic of theirs? Can someone give me the correct terminology so I can stop calling it a vang attachment point?

Your local chandlery must have a U shaped ring, whose arms are just wider than the diameter of your mast, and the extreme ends are drilled with a opening which will accommodate a bolt thru the base of the mast. A shackle will fasten your vang to this ring. It helps to have a jam cleat on the boom side of the vang, which you can reach from the hatch to tighten. Bob's your uncle!
