I would like to install the CDI-FF2 with ball bearing on my O'Day 23. The installation manual on the CDI site is 18 pages long. Is the installation that difficult? I am relatively handy. How much help would I need? Would it be better to get a pro to install the CDI-FF2? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks, Rizz

Rizz, My wife and I installed an FF4 on my O'Day 25 this spring. I would not describe myself as "handy" but I do know how to fix things etc. My job is very white collar and behind a desk. I read and re-read the instructions and even got a dvd on installation. My wife and I put it on. I estimated two - three hours to install - it ended up taking about 5-6. We left the mast up. My guess is if I can do it so can you. However, if you are not comfortable I would get a pro. I think you need at least two people to install it - I could not have done it by myself. I really like the furler - makes sailing easier for sure. Scott

I had a pro put my CDI together for me. A wise use of $50. I'm fairly handy, but I have limited time, and no obvious candidates were available to assist. My sailmaker put the whole thing together and re-coiled the foil (in the opposite direction it was shipped) so I could transport it from his shop to my boat. All I had to do was uncoil it and fasten it to the masthead. Since the mast was down for the season, this did not strain me too much. The yard crew attached the furler to the bow tang as part of the spring set up.
