Any pointers for running wires from the electrical panel to the pedestal? Any chance that Hunter placed a messenger line to help in running wires? We haven't started yet, but it can't be too difficult...can it?

Running Wires

When I installed my radar/plotter on our 460, I was very surprised to find all the wireing had been installed at the factory. System was Ratheon. Made the job simple! Hope you have the same surprise!

Wiring

There's a flex conduit from the Nav station power panel that runs all the way to the port cockpit lazarette. There are access points along the way in the head (behind the mirror) and in the ceiling of the aft cabin. From the lazarette you can run along in front of the fuel and holding tanks to a point near the rudder post. From there you can fish the wire into the headliner over the master berth on the centerline. There are a couple of access points here. You'll find a hole in the deck that leads up into the steering pedistal via another piece of flex conduit. Lots of wires going up. Temporarily straighten out the flex conduit to get your wire through and then bend it back into a "U" to keep water from entering. A tie wrap will keep it in the "U" position. If your GPS sensor is a SeaTalk device, you can simply tap it in to the SeaTalk cable which runs from your pedistal instruments back to the breaker at the Nav station. Likewise you can just connect your Chartplotter (if SeaTalk) to the closest instrument in the pedistal to pick up the Position data as well as the rest of the data. The Raymarine products install like a dream.
