Installing pedestal guard on 29.5

I want to install a pedestal guard on my hunter 295 in front of the folding table.I need to secure the bottom of the guard there , can anyone tell me how thick that part of the cockpit deck is? is it cored ? What size screws can I use?
I want to mount a navpod there for my new Raymarine E7
