Installing netting is dead simple, but tedious. You can either do the fast way and (UV-safe) zip-tie in place, or the more robust / nautical method of a long tie with cord (also easier to remove). The cloth tends to gather dirt, so it's going to look dingy after a while - just a warning.
You might want to re-consider moving your lifelines up. Often boats designed for deck-sweeping genoas had the last length of lifeline go down low as it went to the pulpit to allow the foresail to fill nicely into that space on a broad reach or run. If you do shorten the line, you will need to re-swage the end-fitting. Do not cheap-out on the new fitting as the swages are a common failure point due to inability to tighten them fully - you simply do not have the strength to do this by hand. Either get it professionally done using hydraulics, or buy a screw-down tool and even that is not really as good.
