I am installing an electric start outboard on my 22 ft Catalina. Any recommendations as to how to run the cables and where to drill access points to the battery?

Go thru the transon

above where the engine mount is located, but low enough to clear any obsructions. Finish the hole off nice to avoid any delamination or water penetration. Cover the hole with the appropriate hardware to prevent water entry. That will get you into the port compartment where the fuel tank is located. You can then run you cables to the battery compartment from there. Regards, Ted

Go through the air vent

Run the fuel and electric lines through the aft cowl vent that faces aft. I've done this for years and it works fine. Saves much time and expense.

It depends

It depends on whay year your C22 is. Bayard's advice is right for boats prior to 1986. The cockpit changed in 1986. Ted's advice is good for newer C22s.
