If you can find a place in the liner above the window with sufficient space for a rivnut, and if you curtains and rod aren't too heavy, the puller and rivnuts can be purchased inexpensively at Harbor Freight. A self-tapping screw will not hold and will loosen up and fall out, after all, the inside liner is glass. When setting rivnuts, I find it takes a light touch when pulling up the rivnut, or it is possible to strip out the threads during installation. Rivnuts are THE very best way to mount light items in the glass, like lights, circuit breaker panels, switch panels etc. Post pics please
Great, I found them. I'll definetely give them a try.Yes the product is called a threaded insert. $16.95 for a kit and they sell inserts by the box. Rivnut is an aviation term for the same thing.....
Did you say wood projects? Please post pics! I've been working on adding more wood to the interior of my 26S, and would love to see what your ideas are. Wood definitely warms things up a bit. I love boats with beautiful wood interiors. Thanks Marc. You may have just given me an idea. I may be able to use longer screws for the windows and screw them into some mahogany strps. Right now the screws for the windows have caps on them in the inside of the boat. This may work and add some more wood accents to go with the rest of my wood projects in the boat.
