I'm planning to install an anchor roller on my 89 Hunter 33.5 The roller furling hub sits in a well leaving very little room to mount an anchor roller. Looking to mount a 22 or 35lb claw anchor. Anyone had any experience with this? If so, I'd appreciate some guidance.

LOOK IN THE ARCHIVES

Michael: Take a look in the archives. Several of us have installed anchor rollers on Hunters over the years. Mine was a H31 and while it wasn't easy, it was one of the best things I ever installed on my boat. Allowed use of a larger "Delta" anchor and much easier deployment/retreival of the anchor. BTW, at the same time I installed a SW washdown...one of the other smart things I did! Good luck. Tim Leighton (S/V "Magic" C400)

Me, too...

I have been thinking about the same thing on my '88 33.5. Have not come up with a good solution, though. One thought was to use the bow pulpit step as a mounting place. The 35.5 has a similar bow set-up, so archived material pertaining to that model may also be valid. If anyone had a photo they could post, it would be worth 1000 words!

This worked for my rig.

1/4" Stainless plate placed under the pulpit rail and seat, conforming to the lines of the bow and hole for the forestay. Anchor roller welded to plate portion extended before the bow. Picture attached is not the best to show design totally, if interested other pics and template for plate is available.

Interested in photos and template

Hello Greg, I'm interested in seeing some photos of your anchor roller...and if you've already made a template, how can I get a copy. Cap'n Brent S/V Elena Lua 1991 Hunter 335 West Palm Beach, FL
