Hello all, I recently purchased a 1998 Oceanis 36cc and would like to get AC/heat installed. I would appreciate any information one might have regarding the location of the unit and the duct work. I'm thinking the engine compartment would work. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated. Michael

The compressor needs cooling I don't think placing it in the proximity of the engine would help. The location of choice has usually been inside one the cabin settees.

The 36 cc does have a large engine bay and I have seen A/C units mounted to the side. Does not seem like a good spot however. Perhaps you could duct the air return to cool cabin air and upgrade the distribution duct insulation. It is a central location with easy access to power and raw water. Easier ducting install.

Thank you Gunni, I assume you mean inside the engine compartment but to one side..we will only be using it at the marina hooked up to power.

More to the point, the manual specifically forbids this and warns against intake air coming from equipment and bilge areas. Smells, and even worse CO, are the concerns.

Make certain the strainer is easy to service.

Also remember that reverse cycle heat is not going to work when you anchor out. Fuel is better.

Unless he has a genset none of it will work at anchor.
Yes, there are some access doors on the galley side as I remember. A Beneteau dealer, or the factory can give you suggested install locations. That is a nice model, lots of usable space.

Thank you thinwater, gunni I appreciate your input....We really have enjoyed the boat so far, owned her for a year now. She does have a lot of space, you would think that it would be easy find a place for AC..I will contact the factory and a dealer for there recommendations as you suggested.
