As crazy simple as it sounds ... We stripped back a couple inches of the co-ax cable insolation and attached the central core to the chainplate. The whole standing rig is our antenna.

I've heard of other folks doing that. How far are you from the broadcast antennas and do you get many channels?.

I tried that. But the gain wasn't great enough for digital signlas beyond about 5 miles. I picked up a terk amplified antenna. Works with or without the amplifier. Good signals across the region.

17 NM from Milwaukee broadcast towers to the Port Washington marina and we get all the city's broadcast stations. Also get most of those same stations when down in Racine, 22 nm away.

We have a TERK indoor digital antenna too but haven't had the need to use it lately (but we have it).

We have noticed an increasing number of marinas have cable TV available right at the dock pedestal. I wired a coax connector high inside the chain locker and ran the feed to a location near the TV. We carry a 25' length of coax to connect the dock pedestal to the boat.
