I want to install a transducer for my GarminMaps 168. I don't want to drill thru the hull so I'm looking at "shoot-thru" or a "transom" mounted. Anyone have any suggestion and/or advice as to what's better and where to mount? I have a 1984 H31.
I have a transom mount for my Garmin now ...pain in the !!!!!! always getting seawead and growth as it sits alone in water off stern . I did mount it on a raisable mount but it is still in the way and does not read correctly when healed as it sits to side of middle so it is not in the way of the ladder.
My next install this spring will be shoot through in stalled close to centerline installled with toilet bowl wax ring......Good luck
I installed the shoot thru the hull transducer on my 1983 H-30 using the accessory collar they also sell. You glue the flange of the cup to the hull with RV silicone fill with fluid (I use hair gel cause it won't leak out) and insert the transducer on top. It clips in. Mounted it under the port birth close to the keel.
works great
