Hey der from the U.P. Gonna use an I40 Bidata for a repeater down below at the nav station. There is an ITC 5 Raymarine behind the radio panel with a couple of open
positions. 1 is a spur and the other backbone. The i40 has a flat Seatalk 3 wire (red/black prw and yellow data output). Will a flat Seatalk (1 or 2 ??) to ng cable work to supply data and power to the I40 from the Itc 5? Did a search on Ray to no avail. And they wont answer their fone. :(. Thx!!!!!!!!

I think there is a converter Seatalk 1 to Seatalk ng Raymarine number E22158 that might've what you are looking for. There is also a 5 port Seatalk hs network switch ray marine number A80007. In either case not cheap.

Thx. The i40 looks like a new design. I wonder why they didnt use Seatalkng? Can i use a ng to Seatalk cable from an i70 in the cockpit?

Doubtful that they will talk to each other without going through a converter. Also,I am not sure there is such an animal as a ng to Seatalk cable. Raymarine doesn't seem to be In with the concept of making newer instrumentation backward compatible.

I am going through a similar dilemma.. My instrumentation is all older ST60 to C70, and autopilot. C70 is aging and should be replaced and I need to install radar. Everything communicates now, and I don't want to have to take out a mortgage to do the job right. In my case, it is more of a "want" than a "need" and I would like to be able to opt for a competitive brand in the transition.

Hi Doug. Yup, got ahold of Raymarine today. They did recommend the E22158 converter. Still way cheaper than a i50 or 70.
