There's nothing wrong with my OEM mast step but, the safety of reefing lines led to the cockpit is very compelling. Is there a preferred sealant to use? My plan was to use Bed-It Butyl tape.

Doing the same… I’m coating the holes in the deck with epoxy. Then small bead of 3M 4300 around the holes on each plate. What gets me is the heads of the bolts on slotted holes. Heads and slots will have 4300 to seal it all. Yea it’ll be some work to get it apart, but better than dealing with a wet core.
