I have an 80 Catalina 27. I have a vent on my foredeck that is slightly off center. I would like to replace that with a 10" X 10" Bowmar hatch. I would like to put it dead center of the foredeck. It is a good aluminum hatch and I will cut the fitting so it is as snug as possible.

Do I have structural concerns cutting into my foredeck? Is that section of the deck solid glass?
Any warnings/advice appreciated.

Thanks all.

I don't see any problem with it..... but... to be sure, you might give customer service at Catalina Yachts a call.... that would be the company that built your boat.... and get their input. www.catalinayachts.com the phone number is at the bottom of the page.

Update: Spoke with an engineer at Catalina Yachts, he said I will have no structural issues. Seal everything up and it should be just fine to install a small Bomar hatch in the foredeck of a 1980 catalina 27.
