Installing a Depth Finder on a water ballast boat

Has anyone experience installing a "shoot thru" transducer on a Hunter 19? Can it be done?

Jeff, I think I was the last of the hole drillers

when I put my instruments in my H26. Everyone since has been using the shoot thru pucks and with good results according to the responces on this site. You might look in the archives under depth sounders. Ray S/V Speedy

Check with a dealer or Hunter!

Jeff: You can check with a Hunter Dealer or Hunter Marine. You can also test this yourself. By placing the transducer on the hull with some silicone, peanut butter or other material that will hold it in place you can tell if it is going to work or not. If your hull is NOT solid (which I do not think yours is, it will not work properly. You will be getting a signal from the outside hull.
