Hello all: Today I have installed a Tankwatch 4 level guaging system in the Potable water tank forward on our Catalina 310. I have a vacusan toilet that requires FW to operate, thus knowing how much water you have left is a priority! The nice thing about Tankwatch is that the cap with the sensor floats is a 3" NPT fitting which fits the tank installed in the boat. Therefore there was no requirement to pull the tank to put a strip on the side, etc. I fitted the panel forward on the starboard side below the ledge to step up to the bunk. I would have preferred to place it aft but there is little or now real estate left aft. I figured that the location is visible from the salon with the door open. All in all, a fairly straight forward installation. Regards Chris

22 Inch Probes

Hello SceptreSailor: The 22 inch probes are longer than needed. I would estimate the depth of the tank is somewhere around 16 inches or so. When the tank is reading empty, there will still be residual water in the bottom of the tank due to its shape. This doesn't bother me since, I would want to press the tank before this anyway. The system comes with a vented or unvented cap. Since the tank has a vent already, if you decide to install, make sure you specify the unvented cap. It was a fairly painless installation. I like it because you don't have to pull the tank out to accomplish it. If you have room for the panel aft then bonus. I have a link 10 battery monitor, VHF radio and second Plotter in the space above the electrical panel. I put the panel for the tankwatch forward on the starboard side below the ledge for the bunk. Regards Chris
