Have purchased a companionway ladder from Blue Water Yacht for my 96' Mac26X. The drawing accompanying the ladder shows the installation on the underside of the cockpit/cabin sole. When I positioned the brackets prior to installing, I found that the ladder does not reach the cabin bottom step pedestal, it off by about 2". I could install the ladder on the vertical aft portion of the sole which would then allow the bottom ladder step to set on the step pedestal, but this would restrict the swing up of the ladder for entering the aft berth area. I have an e-mail into BWY, but have not got an answer yet. I looks like a spacer is needed at the bracket point or a the lower step to make it a secure ladder. Any suggestions? Capt.
