Install Power Windless on B352

My boat has a Lofrans manual horizontal windlass on it. I think a broke it and my back lifting my 35 pound anchor in Little Sodus Bay last week. The mud must be 10 feet deep there! I was wondering if anyone has installed a power windlass on a 352 and what issues I should be concerned about. The size of the windlass is an issue as it should fit under the lid of the anchor locker. I can measure that - there seems to be considerable space to mount it. Based on what I have seen on other boats the wiring seems to come directly off the engine and not through the main electrical panel, which might make that part of the project simpler. I was looking at a Lewmar Pro Series as a possible replacement. Any advice? Murray

You will run power off your house batteries, through a Lewmar circuit breaker and forward to your windlass. There will be a buss, and windlass control solenoid that the windlass connects to. Stick with a horizontal windlass, they are more durable. A Beneteau dealer can coach you on this install. Need to do it right or you can light your boat up, or damage your DC system. Good luck
