Help! I want to install a stainless steel pedestal protector for mounting instruments. I have a used stainless steel tube and feet but not the casting to install under the compass. I'm not sure if my '76 unit disassembles like the Edson pedestal. Any ideas?

pedestal guard
i'm sorry, i thought later: its a pedestal guard. the stainless u-shaped tube that attaches forward of the steering wheel. on edson pedestals there is a casting with two fingers that jut out forward that the tubing goes thru to secure the guard near the top. my problem is that i'm not sure this older pedestal comes apart like the newer ones do. hence, i'm not sure how to secure the top of the tube.
