My wilcox critten marine toilet can be a real pain to use,I do OK but I have almost always check it after other guest. So I know this has been discussed many times but I am really asking some one who has done this change over from my similar manual toilet to the raritan sea era electric fresh water or the same toilet in raw water. How was the change over and installing of this unit, does it fit and what if any problems with the base not so much about the water hook up or the electric hook up. I am really interested with the toilet itself fitting in base bolted down,I don't see a problem me running water or electric, just it the tiolet fitting in OK. Nick

alignment

Nick Can only give you my experience replacing a Jabsco with a SeaEra elec fresh water flush. The bolt pattern isn't the same but not a big deal as it's likely you'd have to align the new one differently should the hoses line up differently or the bowl align differently such that the lid won't open to vertical on the new one. I assume you know where on-line to get the exact dimensions of the SeaEra and suggest using those as the best guide.

Yes

I am checking the measurements for sure,I understand the base of the toilet swivels depending on install and hose hook up. Does the electric fresh water toilet use vented loop also. Nick

vented loop

Nick You'll be better off following the manual than my advice for the plumbing arrangement but my recollection is that I didn't install a loop on the intake side (which is pressurized). You might want to confirm with Peggy. The base does indeed swivel but only in 90 deg increments as I remember. Be aware of the difference when ordering as one has a 90deg elbow, the other type does not.

No...it uses a solenoid valve.

Intake vented loops are only required on toilets that use raw water. Electric raw water toilets need a solenoid valve that acts as a vented loop...toilets that use pressurized flush water don't have an intake pump, so they also use a solenoid valve, but it's a different type that acts kinda like opening and closes a "faucet" instead of as a siphon breaker valve. You can see it in the exploded drawing and parts list on the Raritan site here: http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/electric/sea_era.html Wiring it correctly is critical to trouble-free operation...run a new circuit and breaker, shared by nothing else that can pull power away from it if it's on at the same time...'cuz low voltage to the toilet will result in both sluggish discharge and damage to the toilet motor over time.

Thank"s

I thought so on no vented loop but not sure,I do have extra breakers and one even says head so I am good with that and also the fresh water hook up is Ok too. It's all making sense to me now with the install and OK with it fitting should not be too bad. Also while I have your attention which unit do you think will work best for me,Electra Scan or Lectra/Scan and will need to use a salt tank when we move down to florida. I will just be changing the toilet for now until we move the boat to Port charlotte,Fl Thanks Again Nick

PuraSan is your best choice with fresh water toile

The PuraSan can be used in either fresh or salt water, but doesn't need salt. It also costs less, plus you save the cost of the salt tank too, and uses less power, because it doesn't make chlorine, so it doesn't have an electrode pack. See the specs for it here: http://www.raritaneng.com/products/waste_treatment/index.html
