A flame will produce smoke, soot, and carbon monoxide. I would not consider an oil lamp a safe thing without a chimney to vent outdoors.

It's perfectly fine. Just be smart and don't burn your boat down. Just think how long people used oil lamps before we came up with batteries and charging systems.

Other than the possibility of fire, the lamp's flame will extinguish itself once the oxygen gets depleted.

I wish to emphasize carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that will kill you long before the oxygen runs out. Soot is very difficult to clean from some surfaces. Your life... your call.

For many years, I've used a Weems and Plath Miners lamp mounted in a gimbal. It adds a great ambience to cool evenings. If it is cleaned, has a good wick, and good lamp oil, it generates almost no soot. It generates too much heat to be of use in the summer..
The lamp is well made and has an internal flame arrestor and gas cooler for safety.
