My problem is that I think my main halyard internal is somehow bound up in the electrical conduit inside the mast. It is unreal raising and lowereing the main even though I replaced the sheaves with roller bearing mast top and put new exit sheaves bottom mast. The sail will not fall down once released, it has to be pulled down. I would like suggestions without unstepping the mast if possible. Thanks for all suggestions. Anita

Could just be the friction of the sail slugs in

the mast track, I find that spraying them with a dry lube like sailkote greatly reduces effort to raise & allows them to drop. Whats the halyard feel like without a load on it ?

As Ron mentioned on the C30 post, it could be the routing through the deck organizer. Too much friction. Try hoisting the sail from the mast exit block. If if hoists much easier then it is probably the deck organizer as the sheevs are most likely not ball bearing. Also use sailkote lube on the slugs and spray on the exit block, big help.

Internal main halyard

The question you posse how does ther halyard feel with no load? It feels like something is still a drag on hosting the sail but some easier with the main sail. I will try the suggestion not using the organizers and just the exist sheave to hoist the sail this week to see if there is a difference. I have tried Sailkote and others things and no great improvement. Will lrt you know the outcome. Anita C-30 5460
