I am planning to be in the vicinity of Roslyn NY over Labor Day. I have a Beneteau 36.1 drawing about 5 ft. We have a cat and want to stay on a mooring at a place that has launch service. Any information would be appreciated.

Specifically Roslyn?

Or the north shore of Long island in general? Port Washington, Oyster Bay, Huntington/Northport, and Port Jefferson could all accomodate you. My personal favorite is Huntington. Try Willis Marine (Beneteau dealer) or Coney's for moorings. In Northport, the town dock fills up fast - try Seymour's. Better make your reservations early though.

There is no Roslyn Harbor. The town of Roslyn is at the bottom of Hempstead Harbor. Sea Cliff YC is about half way down the harbor on the eastern shore. They have guest moorings and launch service. To the left of the YC is Glen Cove Marina. They have a gas dock and slips. Oyster Bay Harbor is the next harbor east and Manhasset Bay is the next to the west. Both have plenty of moorings with launch sevice available. My personal choice would be Oyster Bay. OBMC Ch 71, (516)922 6331

Larchmont Yacht Club

If you dont mind sailing a few miles (about 2) across the sound, you should head over to the Larchmont Yacht Club. This is truly one of the grandest clubs on the east coast. Tons of yachting history, an excellent restuarant and a magniciant porch overlooking the harbor and sound. of course, to get in, you will need to be a member of a recognized yacht club.
