I was wondering if anybody can give me information good or bad on purchasing an Oday 34. I am moving up from a swing keel Catalina 25 and this looks like a nice comfitable coastal cruser that is capabile of being singlehanded. Most of my sailing will be done on the intercoastal here in central florida. This just seems to be a solid boat that offers alot for the money. Am I right or wrong?

Re; Info on O'Day 34

I have a 34 O'Day and we have taken it from Kentucky Lake ,down the Tenn-Tom Waterway , spent 6 months cruising the Gulf Coast and Keys. We spent am week in the Dry Tortugas. The boat did anything we ask and kept us high and dry always. We returned to Punta Gorda and lived aboard for a year in a marina. Unfortunately, due to unforseen cicumstances, we have our boat for sale now. Could not give a boat higher marks! Good luck .Robert

Thoughts on 34

You are right that the 34 offers great value, comfortable accomadations, and sailing performance very much on par with a Catalina 34. I have raced on 34's and own a 35 for 7years. Just remember these are coastal cruisers and used in that context you will be happy. If possible would look for one with standard draft & lead keel.

O'Day 34 Great buy

The O'Day 34 is a great value and great sailing boat. We own a 35 which is a 34 with a swim platform. Our boat has taken us to Maine and is used mostly around Cape Cod and the Islands of Martha's Vinyard and Nantucket. If you would like particular information on the boat, please e-mail me Manny Moniz, at Moniz@meganet.net.
