Well, sold the Catalina 30 after 5 years of outfitting and enjoying her and my wife and I would like a little more room. We are scheduled to look at a 1987 Morgan 41 Classic on Tuesday. Has anyone heard of any problems with this style of boat. Anything beyond the obvious (because it is a boat;)) that I should pay close attention to? I did not see any Morgan groups on here but someone might know the boat.
Thanks for your input,
John

Is this the Out Island center cockpit? Those boats were not great sailing boats, but said to be well made and comfortable.

Like Higgs said, they aren't known for being a fast sailing vessel. I have a very good friend that had an Out Islander 41 Cutter Ketch rig. She was a good shoal draft vessel, beamy, slow, but very stable and comfortable in heavy seas. Mariah was loaded, very nice engine room under the cockpit located between the galley and aft captians cabin. Two heads, two reverse cycle ac heat systems, gen set in the engine room, 100 gallon fuel capacity, ice maker, water maker, very nice layout for living aboard and making passage. She just was as slow as molasses. If you want some specifics, drop me an e mail and I'll put you in contact with the previous owner. He sold the boat because someone came along and offered him what he had invested in it; alas how do you turn an offer down like that? Now, of course, he has regrets about it, yet is looking for a cat.

Thanks for helping me out on the Morgan. If it all goes through I might be the new owner.Very nice well kept boat. This was the version after Catalina bought morgan yachts and I guess they changed the bottom alittle with a fin keel and skeg hung rudder instead of a full keel.
Thanks for your imput.
John
