Hunter 356 Monterey
Good morning

New owner of a 2002 Hunter 356. I am learning *lots* about how to address issues thanks to this forum.

I'm in the process of replacing sanitary hoses (thanks, Headmistress!) and discovered that the space under the shower pan is filled with expanding foam. I spoke to the gentleman who owned the boat prior to the person I purchased it from and he told me that added the foam at the advice of Hunter to address the "shower dimple" problem. There was no evidence of a dimple when the boat was hauled out, but a) the foam appears to be great at absorbing head odors so I'd like to remove it, b) there are many hoses and wires under the shower pan that are bound up by the foam, and c) I'd rather address the dimple issue properly.

Poking around on this forum there is chatter about Hunter failing to install a stringer under the shower pan in some models and that some owners have addressed this by cutting out the floor of the shower pan and glassing in a stringer. Might anyone have details about the location and details of the stringer? Pix would be amazing.

Bonus question: I'd like to have the option to have access to the area under the shower pan for inspection. Has anyone intalled an access panel? If nothing else I was thinking perhaps a large round deck plate so that stresses flow around it a bit better than something square.

Thanks,
Jim
