I'm trying to patch some air leaks in my Caribe inflatable. I have one that is being very stubborn. :cussing: The patches go over a seam which seams like it prevents a good seal. I have a few patches trying to stop one small leak but it's not working. I want to take off all the patches and start over but I'm not sure how to remove and prep for a new patch. I am using Evercoat patches and glue. If anyone out there has removed old patches and replaced them please let me know your methods.

I am not sure how big your hole was, but I have a very old Avon, which had slow punctures everwhere, but nowhere that you could pinpoint, and it used to collapse after about three days. I bought a bottle of sealant from West Marine for about $60, poured it in the pump holes, pumped up the dinghy and rolled the liquid around, as per the instructions. The result is my thrity odd year old inflatable has transformed into a rigid, solid dinghy, that never needs inflating. You might try this, then you could leave your patches where they are. Awesome stuff

The inside stuff is reported to do well on older dinghies. You might also try contacting your dinghy manufacturer and asking them what they recommend, both for getting old patches off and for sealing the holes.

Tried WM but they backordered it. Went to Inland Marine and bought their sealant for the same price. Put some in the dinghy today. I'll let you know how it works.
