I was looking for an inexpensive boat cover for my 170 and trailer since it stays outdoors and I found a really nice one at K-Mart. It is a Goldguard brand car cover in XXL size. It will reach from the trailer post supporting the mast at the front to the tip of the mast which is held by the transom support. It has elastic all around and has a strap that snaps together at the front. I used a spring loaded clip to bring the front closed under the trailer mast support. It only cost $40 and has a nice lightweight bronze colored fabric. Check it out! They also have a cheaper brand but the fabic is not so good.

Careful - covers can hurt

While shopping for my 170, I looked over some used hulls that had been replaced under warranty - they were selling the "carcas." The salesman told me that hull damage can occur when dark boat covers are put over the 170 - in summer, the skin can blister under the contained heat from the dark cover. You might want to check that out with Hunter.

Dark covers are a no-no

and your instruction manual clearly states this. (As an aside, my dealer told me to get a tarp at the hardware store...glad I had read the Hunter forums and my manual before doing that). I had a light tan tarp custom made at a local tent and awning company and it has served me well through the snows of last winter and has protected the boat this summer. Even though it is light-colored, I still rig it in such a fashion as to allow plenty of ventilation in the summer heat. It wasn't inexpensive, but it should last for years.
