I have a 1992 30T. I would like to replace the water and holding tanks to ones that are up to twice the size of the originals. Has anyone done this on this model? How difficult was it? Thanks for any info.

Hard to do

Hi Greg, I have a 1991 30T, and yes the tanks are small. For the fresh water tank there is a small compartment in front of the water tank. You could add a second tank here. However, you will have to cutout the vberth decking (glued and screwed in). I know since I just finished installing a 12K A/C-Heater in this location (best place on the boat, and a must have in Texas). The waste tank is the worst!!! it's smaller that my bladder!! There is some room to expand the tank size (on top of fuel tank). However, it's a pain to get at. I would like to change mine out also. If you have a plastic tank upgrade to metal tank. I Would Not Do It

I have 1991 30T. Replacing water and holding tanks with larger ones would be extremely difficult. I obtained access to water tank (difficult job) to install a gauge sensor (did not work well-wrong sensor). The tank is odd shape and almost completely fills the void. My opinion is that locating a larger tank to fit the space can not be done. Manufacturing a tank would be prohobitively expensive. Last year my original aluminum holding tank developed numerous pin hole weep holes and was replaced. All the experts say to replace holding tank only with polyethylene which I did. Installed 15 gal rectangular tank which is different in dimensions than original. Unless you cut out and raise locker floor above the tank I think 15 gal is maximum. I managed to fit new tank through locker floor opening. If you have original metal holding tank it is only a matter of time until you will require replacement. If you want written instructions and photographs I will send them. Tank removal and replacement was a MUCH bigger job than expected and required cutting access hole through aft cabin bulkhead to reach the old tank anchors. Also rerouted discharge hose so tank drains better. I am certain my notes/pictures will be helpful to anyone replacing holding tank on a 30T.
