Has anyone tried to put one of the 260 water balast into commercial survey for hire and drive. Or indeed hired one. I would be very interested to hear from you.

When I bought my 95 H26 two years ago the

bank wanted a survey. But in Denver Colorado that possibility was like a snow storm in your "outback". The boat is so basic that we chose to do an inspection on the trailer and a 1/2 day of sailing. We sailed first and all systems worked great without any problems. We then pulled the boat out of the water with the trailer and checked the ballast system for leaks, then drained it and lowered the mast. After that we went through the electrical system and pulled the electrical panel to inspect the wiring and to see if anyone had messed it up with additions. All was good. I went ahead and bought the boat and have had no problems. If you are knowledgeable about fiberglas boats and sailboat rigging you could do the same. If not then I would either take someone with me that was or pay for a survey. Like I say they are a very simple boat and nothing is hidden so a survey should not be too expensive. Ray S/V Speedy

thanks Trevor

Thanks Trevor, I have been speaking with Frank over the past 5-6 months. It appears that even though, this model has been accepted into survey in Victoria and despite all states agreeing to accept each others survey detail, the "Goverment regulators" over here want to make life difficult for us. We are trying to get it into survey for Partially smooth waters, "D" classification. The area of water is much less open than Port Phillip Bay. The silly thing is that over here the "regulators" will allow people to hire out canoes that can be paddled up remote rivers by people with little experiance without having to conform to any standards yet a yacht as safe as this one, with controlled hire has to conform to an endless array of regulations.
