In need of Inspiration

I've purchased a British Hunter 23ft sailboat. This is a different manufacturer from the American one. However, I need inspiration for a name and wondered if some American Hunters are named in the same way as some Hunters over here. There are a few such boats in the area with names such as 'Hunters Moon', 'Orion' (clever), and 'Bounty Hunter' (like that one) all following an obvious theme. Can anyone help suggest a catchy name for the boat as I'm struggling.

You can search by boat name and that should spark some ideas! The link is in the nav column of the homre page. ph.

Some schools of thought

You could use a tool or reference to a tool used to "hunt" with: SexTent, SexyTent, Index Correction, In View, Cross Hairs, Bullet, HollowPoint, etc You could use a term to describe what type of Hunter: Fox, Sea, Freedom, Sky, Destination, etc. You could use a term to imply the act of "hunting": Still Searching, In Search Of..., Journey Ride You could imply the "hunt" is over: Found, Finally Or you could use a Scottish term to imply the "Hunter" is the victor: Kilt (Texan for killed.) Or you could use a term to indicate the rarity of a Scot buying anything British: Pound for Pound, BleedN-NCredible Let us know what you decide!!

No Quarters

Huntering for a name? I knew of a boat named "No Quarters". I thought it meant you didn't have to insert quarters to make it work like an arcade game, but the term No Quarters was pirate talk for refusing to surrender (take quarters). As a Hunter of pirates for Her Majesty, take No Quarters!

I had a hard time naming my boat too. But after her first wild ride on San Francisco Bay in 35 mph winds and 4 foot seas, I compared her with a roller coaster and named her MS. TOAD'S WILD RIDE after the Disneyland roller coaster ride MR. TOAD'S WILD RIDE. There must be something that really sticks in your mind when you are out on a great sail that will really work for you. Be patient and take your time. The name will come to you. Something special will click. Hopefully it won't be Money Pit!

Keep it short.

I am going though the same issue now for my `new to me' Hunter 335, the one priority I have is that the new name be easy to say and easy to remember, I might have to repeat it over the radio one day in a hurry!

Idea (stolen)

Some friends of mine are having a baby and found a naming site that collected peole's "short lists." The results was a search that produced: "If you like ___ you'll also like: (results follow). It's a fairly simple cross-tab of a database filled with people's final list of names. This would certainly be fun if we could get enough owners to contibute their top names. Do you think it would be worth the effort?
