In-mast roller furling continuous line

One of my winter projects this year is to change the continuous line on the in-mast roller furling mail sail of my 2006 H38. Has anyone done this? Any problems to be aware of or tricks to know? I should have done it a couple of weeks ago during the super-warm stretch the northeast had...

I've replaced mine. There are plenty of good YouTube videos that will show you how to splice a continuous line. Make sure you have the proper size fid. a very important tip would be to make sure you absolutely keep your line from twisting when you are splicing. Otherwise, your line will get knotted up when it's running through the clutch.
It's actually a fun little project.

I replaced mine this year. Concur w/Marc...a fun project, and plenty of guidance available on continuous splicing. Of course it has to be done "in situ", so good weather is real plus.

I found stitching the splice keeps things tight. We had a rigger do ours, he had to come back after we used it a few times. He did it over again and stitched it, since then no problems.

If you've never spliced before, I suggest practicing on a short piece before doing the furling line on the boat. If you get it wrong and have to cut the line to start again it may end up too short, ask me how I know this, but luckily I had bought a slightly longer line than needed.... Definitely stitch the splice to keep it secure.
