Salty Dog: Nice boat and web site you posted. Actually, I wish I could have afforded in mast or boom furling because it sure makes the job easier but here is the problem in a nut shell. A mainsail needs rigidity to funtion properly. The luff gets it rigidity from the mast. The foot of the sail gets it rigidity from the boom. Rigidity to the leech comes from the battens, which you don't have. Without battens it is difficult to control the leech and you end up with poor shape and it is tough to control the draft depth (belly). So what do you do? You do the same thing you did on the other boat but you have to be a bit more diligent in your use of the sail trim controls especially the boom vang, outhaul and mainsheet. I'm sad to say you wil not get the same shape and performance you did on the other boat but so what. The performance will be off a bit but you have such a nice boat that will make up for it.
