Wow you have an inmast furler on a 322? what year is your boat and or was this a retrofit?Has anyone out there removed the inmast furler from there 322? I realize that I may need a new main but it is time.
The boat came originally with the inmast furler Ifrom Isomat. I have seen several in the US with this setup.Wow you have an inmast furler on a 322? what year is your boat and or was this a retrofit?
I just bought a 1988 O322...with standard mast/main. Maybe we should swap! The boat came originally with the inmast furler Ifrom Isomat. I have seen several in the US with this setup. I have the original paperwork from Isomat from when the boat was new in the "new boat binder" that I got with the boat when I purchased it.
I find it more work to get the sail out. First you have a continuous line to pull the sail out and at the same time pull the outhaul out so the sail doesn't jam in the furler. On my old boat which was a little bigger I used one halyard and pulled the sail six inches from the top of the mast and winched the rest of the way. No jamming no having sail fold back on itself etc. I find it hard to reef as well.I just bought a 1988 O322...with standard mast/main. Maybe we should swap!
Why do you want to get rid of the in-mast furling?

My friend has a H33 with in-mast furling, and I do like the convenience of not having to mess with a sail cover, lazy jacks, etc, he does have similar issues with the main getting stuck if he does not keep tension on the out haul.I find it more work to get the sail out.
