Out sailing last Friday night (2001 Hunter 320) and the furling line for the mainsail broke at the splice. Anyone in the north texas area(Lake Grapevine) know how to splice a new line in place or can recommend someone I can hire to do that? I think I will replace the rope clutches at the same time and go to a 4 rope clutch to replace the 3 rope clutch there now-any suggestions on brand of clutch?

thanks for the help

I called Mariner Sails in Dallas and they gave me a name of a rigger. I paid him like $60/hr.

Thanks for the help. I've used Mariner before but never thought to ask them. I will read those seldon instructions.

I looked at couple of videos of how to do it and tried it a couple of times, then hired a rigger. Be sure it is well stitched or you will have a thin spot after few uses. Our rigger had to come back and fix it after our first 4 or 5 sails. He then gave it some extra stitching and has been fine since then. It has to be smooth and same diameter to feed through the mast winch without binding.
Good luck, Bob
