In mast furler overhaul

Hi. First post, here goes. My mast is 26yrs old and has never been down. That's not as bad as it sounds for a Lake Pepin boat - no salt, short season. Anyway, the in furl could do with an overhaul and I think the cassette just comes out and it goes off for a service. But how and where? Any ideas? I tried Charleston Spars.

Try US Spars.
We also have a Beneteau 321 which is 15 years old. Took the mast down last year for the first time. Have not serviced the drum, but I suspect US Spars can suggest someone locally to help if it needs servicing.
Why do you think it needs servicing? Sticking or something else going on?

US Spars usually supplies the mast and furling hardware to Beneteau. They will service the furling mechanism including installation a new line for a reasonable price and do a good job. I had mine done a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the answers. I'm talking with St Barts in SC. They tell me it can be removed, mast up, but it's 9 feet long. I imagined it was like a normal roller reefing and the luff track could be removed to leave a much smaller package for shipping. Has anyone actually removed one of these things themselves?

What's 9 ft long? On my 393, I have removed it and it's about 3 ft long. Instructions are on the US Spars website.
