A Beneteau owner who is in the islands right now had to remove his mainsail to have some work done to it. In the mean time he did not want to irritate all those around him by having the main furling extrusion banging around inside the mast cavity. He came up with this solution which he reports works well.
So those who may have the need here's a picture.
He added this: " I found that it helped to tie a line, which was not attached to the little sail, about two feet or so up from the bottom of the furling rod and run it back to one of the main sheet block attachment points on the boom. It can be seen in the photo. With the little sail up high that was enough. No noise."

The little sail is what you see coming out of the back of the mast...hoisted up the extrusion and tensioned aft to keep the extrusion from banging around.

Could it work to just tie something to a sail slug and hoist it, same as the sail?
