Has anyone experienced any unexpected difficulties when cutting through the cabin sole to replace the old leaking fuel tank? What precautions were taken to prevent moisture on outside of new tank? What material were used, stainless or aluminum?
My hull is #52, built in 1963. The fuel tank in my Seawind is mounted aft under the cockpit. The Cabin sole does have a storage capability beneath, which was used as an extra water tank on my boat. I can take some photos of my fuel tank next weekend if desired.Regards,Bob Baker
I have a 1962 ketch rigged Allied and my cabin sole has no storage space beneath it, I beleive it is solid at least it feels like solid concreteMy tank was under the cockpit deck I recently replaced it with two 8 gal. removable plastic tanks, that's the only space/capacity I had available for fuel tanks.
